FNA_52627 (1)The exhibition “Silk Road-a New Look” invites the public to explore and understand the value of culture, and to get better acquainted with the motifs of the towns and people where the Way of Silk was present in ancient times.

In the presence of great number of visitors and media, in the premises of Brusa Bezistan in capital Sarajevo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Igor Crnadak and ambassador of China to BiH Chen Bo, opened the exhibition.

“Brusa Bezistan is the perfect place to house this exhibition, because when it was first established in 1551, Brusa Bezistan was intended as a silk market. Today, an exhibition of images of contemporary Chinese cities along the ancient Silk Road and their people is on display in this centuries-old silk market. This is proof that the values of the Silk Road have been passed on from one generation to the next, and have survived to this day,” Chen Bo said at the solemn opening.

“It is my pleasure to be here at the opening of the very impressive exhibition, which has three dimensions: first, it is a continuation of the relations between China and BiH in different areas that we are trying to keep strong. Second, this exhibition is an announcement of the preparation of the very important summit we will have on May 14 and 15 in Beijing. The third dimension is that the exhibition is a type of a very sincere and open dedication and respect toward the Silk Road,” Crnadak told at the press conference attended by a great number of media.

Over 2.000 years ago people of Eurasia researched and established land and sea routes that connected great civilizations of Asia, Europe and Africa. “Silk Road” is a name given to those roads by later generations.

This exhibition is organized on the occasion of the upcoming “Belt and Road” forum, which will be held on May 14 in Beijing, and will be attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Crnadak and Minister of Foreign trade and Economic relations Mirko Sarovic.

Back in September and October 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed during his visits to Kazakhstan and Indonesia respectively the building of a Silk Road Economic Belt and a 21-Century Maritime Silk Road. This was the beginning of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Brusa Bezistan, one of the most important exhibition places, was erected in 1551 and holds the permanent exhibition with the archaeological material on display divided into three sections: prehistory, Antiquity and the Middle Ages. Exhibition will remain open until April 30.
