In the Budget of the Sarajevo Canton (CS) for this year, three million BAM have been allocated for scientific research projects, which is the largest amount of funds for this activity so far.

Today, the Government of the Sarajevo Canton passed the Decision on determining the purpose, criteria and manner of distribution of funds to support scientific research activities.

The Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth, Melika Husic Mehmedovic, announced that a public call for co-financing projects, with criteria, will be announced next week.

“The funds will be divided into three programs. For the largest program, intended for scientific-research, artistic-research and research-development projects, 2,400,000 BAM have been allocated. The second program is intended for young researchers and 450,000 BAM is intended for it, while 150,000 BAM has been allocated for the third program, and it is intended to support domestic journals and membership in international organizations, “said Husic Mehmedovic.

According to her, this decision determines a number of innovations in the manner of distribution of funds, which will be mostly used for the reconstruction of research infrastructure, and for the purpose of raising the capacity of scientific researchers.

“By introducing younger researchers and doctoral students, postdoctoral students, and even students of the second integrated cycle of studies into scientific research, we give support to younger staff and our best students,” said Husic Mehmedovic.
