Central Election Commission of BiH decides on Results for indirect Election for the House of Peoples

At today’s session, the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CEC BiH) unanimously adopted the Decision on determining the results of the indirect election for the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the entity of Republika Srpska.

Four candidates from the SNSD have been elected as delegates to the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament from the entity of Republika Srpska. These are: Snježana Novaković-Bursać, Nikola Špirić, Sredoje Nović and Radovan Kovačević, and Želimir Nešković from the SDS.

A member of the CEC BiH, Željko Bakalar, said during the debate on the aforementioned decision that they have acted in accordance with the Court’s decision in two appeal cases, “where we received a clear order to act in accordance with the Report of the Commission for the Selection and Appointments of the RSNA”.

“I don’t think there is any dilemma in a country where the rule of law exists. We will act in accordance with the Court’s decision. We had different approaches in making the previous two decisions. We analyzed the Court’s decisions, each of us individually. There are some things on which we have different opinions regarding the procedure itself. It is important to point out that in the Court’s decisions, at least in the explanation, the Court referred to the validity or invalidity of the ballot itself. The decisions of the CEC have been challenged more in relation to the procedure and the way in which we determined the results themselves,” said Bakalar, Fena writes.
