The acting prosecutor of the KS Prosecutor’s Office suggested to the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo that the custody of suspect Tarik Prusac be extended for another two months for the crime of aggravated murder of a woman. The extension was proposed because of the danger that the suspect could repeat the bloody crime if he was at liberty and because of the danger that his being at liberty could cause public disturbance.
Let us remind you that Tarik Prusac was ordered by the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo at the beginning of May to be detained for one month as a suspect for the murder of his wife and journalist Elma Godinjak, which he committed on May 1 in the Sarajevo neighborhood of Dobrinja.
On May 4, a hearing in this case was held in the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo.
At the hearing, it was stated that, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect had access to weapons and had previously shown patterns of violent behavior, as well as that there are elements that indicate the planning of a crime. It was also pointed out that the victim previously reported violence and received protective measures.
In her presentation, acting prosecutor Iva Kurilić presented shocking details of the case. As she stated, it was a serious, pre-planned crime, and that it was an extremely persistent, arrogant and unscrupulous person previously convicted of violence against her mother and brother.
The suspect’s lawyer, Damir Kočo, emphasized that milder measures should be considered because the Prussian is in a serious mental state and tried to cut his own veins. Kočo pointed out that his ward would need psychological help and certain security measures. Tarik Prusac stated that he understands what he is being charged with, and that he regrets the crime he committed, claiming that he had no intention of killing Godinjak. He also stated that he is in poor financial condition.
“I just wanted to intimidate her, I just wanted to take the child,” he emphasized.
The prosecutor also reminded that the Center for Social Work confirmed that the Prussian regularly saw the child at his mother’s place on weekends, and that the claims made were unfounded. She also pointed out that the suspect told her “whoever separates my child from me will end up underground”.
Kurilić also emphasized that she found terrifying scenes at the crime scene – the victim was visibly beaten, had bruises on her head, arms and legs. Prusac tied and wrapped a previously purchased tape around her head about 20 times. He killed her on the staircase with a shot from close range, did not call an ambulance, nor did he check if she was still alive, but picked up the girl and headed towards Dariva.
