cevljanoviciThe most faithful fans of the bullfight in Čevljanovići started to gather yesterday, and according to the estimations of the organizers, this national celebration that is traditionally held every year will gather around 50,000 people this year.

The 69th bullfight in Čevljanovići gathers visitors from all parts of the country and further afield. The central event is bullfighting; however the tents provide a wide range of activities including live music, roast and table dancers.

The event is also used for trade, so you can also find numerous stands with various goods.

Despite high rates of unemployment and the current bad economic situation, it seems that in Čevljanovići nobody is saving their money. The tents are full, and the guests don’t hesitate to give gifts to the dancers.

“The bullfight in Čevljanovići is an important event for Bosnian culture. I think we have outgrown the Balkans,” emphasizes Besim Gljiva, the president of the organizing committee of the bullfight in Čevljanovići.

For the safety of visitors the organizers hired 300 police officers and security guards.
