Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić said today on the occasion of November 25, BiH Statehood Day, that our country is not progressing on the European path due to years of non-fulfillment of obligations.
“When it comes to the EU, we are a step back. We have not fulfilled our obligations for years. We have not fulfilled what Europe is asking for. We are not making progress towards the EU because Europe itself has a lot of problems in the way it will function in the future, that is, how to organize relations currently in the EU. That’s what French President Emmanuel Macron told us at the last meeting, that they have a lot of problems. He was referring to the way of voting. When you add the unsettled situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, plus the entire region, of course Europe is careful,” said Komšić.
After laying flowers in front of the Eternal Flame, Komšić congratulated the citizens of BiH on one of the two most important days of the year that concern everyone in BiH. In this context, he referred to the ban on the celebration of Statehood Day in Mrkonjić City, where 80 years ago the First Session of the National Anti-Fascist Council of People’s Liberation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ZAVNOBiH) was held, where decisions on the restoration of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s statehood were made.
“Like every year, from the end of the war until today, it’s always the same story when it comes to November 25 and March 1. Nothing is unexpected, no matter how much we look at it as a kind of political madness. Now we’re talking about November 25, On the Statehood Day of BiH, which is very important when we talk about the attitude towards fascism, that is, the anti-fascist struggle of all peoples in BiH, who chose the right historical side both then and today,” said Komšić.
He added that the question arises as to whether the background of such a decision could be “emphasizing the negative attitude towards Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
“There is also denial of Bosnia and Herzegovina, there is also fear in a way,” said Komšić.
On that occasion, Komšić referred to the current political and security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Speaking about allegations of the existence of terrorist cells and Russian camps in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he said that the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina will discuss this.
“We will seek official information first of all from those authorities whose job it is. From those who brought it up and from OSA, which is obliged to know about it and monitor and report it to the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Komšić.
He added that everything that is presented in this sense must be supported by facts.
“We will probably propose such a conclusion at the session of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina that follows next week. I think that all three members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina can agree that this is a topic that deserves our attention and that we seek answers to these questions,” said Komšić, AA reports.
