Supervisor for Brčko and Principal Deputy High Representative in BiH, Louis Chrishock, visited several polling stations in the Brčko District during the day as part of monitoring the early presidential elections in Republika Srpska.

“Today is an important day for the entire country. The right to vote is the foundation of any democratic society. It is important to me that we, as representatives of the international community, had the opportunity to observe these elections,” said Chrishock, adding that he hopes that a large number of citizens of Republika Srpska exercised their right to vote.

During the visit, as confirmed earlier in the day, the electoral process in the Brčko area proceeded peacefully. All polling stations – 126 of them – opened on time, and according to data from the Election Commission, 30,521 voters with citizenship of Republika Srpska are eligible to vote.

At one polling station in the local community of Brka, under the code 200C014, where 105 voters with Republika Srpska citizenship were registered, only one of them had come out to the polls by 6 p.m., it was confirmed from that polling station.

At the end of his stay in the district, Supervisor Chrishock met with members of the Election Commission of the Brčko District of BiH, from whom he received the latest turnout data and confirmation that there were no significant problems at the polling stations during the day.
