The level of price increases in Bosnia and Herzegovina became unbearable, which is why the citizens finally decided to raise their voices – protests began in Sarajevo, Mostar, Tuzla, Zenica, Bihac, Gorazde, Travnik, Cazin, Trebinje and other cities of BiH.
The residents of Sarajevo, more than 2,000 of them, gathered at Square of BiH because of the daily increase in the prices of basic foodstuffs, fuel and other energy sources.
In 2014, the last mass protests were held, but the organizers of today’s mass protests decided that their goal was not rampage, that they should gather in a peaceful and civilized manner, and that there should be no burning and demolition of public institutions.
Also, citizens say that the politicians’ decision to increase their salaries by 500 BAM is the hardest for them.
“We will demand, among other things, the suspension of excise duties on fuel, we will demand the calculation of VAT on the fuel price of 2 marks, the introduction of a zero tax rate on basic food products, a reduction in the margin rate limit on medicines, food products, children’s equipment, aids for the disabled , fuel, building materials,” said Harun Salkic, the organizer of the protest in Sarajevo.
