Based on the Law on Holidays of the SFR Yugoslavia from 1973, it was determined that May 1 is an international labor holiday. Thus, it was stated that this holiday will be celebrated on two days (May 1 and 2).

The same law stipulates that if one of the days on which May 1 is celebrated falls on a Sunday, the first following day after those two days is considered a holiday.

In accordance with the notification of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, citizens are informed that May 1 is International Labor Day and that it is celebrated on two days – May 1, Monday and May 2, Tuesday.

Employers, institutions, administrative bodies as well as other legal entities do not work on these days.
