Climate Summit in Paris: which Climate Disasters expected in B&H?

Climate Summit glasistre.hrB&H took the infamous third place in Europe according to affection by climate disasters in 2014. This was said at the summit on climate changes, which was held in Paris.

Such information does not cause much surprise, if we remember last year’s floods. however, what is concerning is that over 3,000 most prominent names from the world of science who participated at the summit during previous days agreed that, when it comes to climate changes caused by human activity, everything goes according to the worst possible scenario for the mankind.

According to the Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Banja Luka Goran Trbić, terrible weather extremes are expecting us in the future. He said we should expect every fifth or sixth year to be extreme in terms of weather occurrences. Moreover, Trbić highlighted that the energetic balance in the atmosphere has changed so much that weather conditions which have never been characteristic for this region will start happening in B&H, such as tornadoes.

Trbić sees an opportunity for B&H to improve its situation in the so-called Green Fund, in which there will be $250 million intended for renewable energy sources, the adaptation to climate changes, and work on energy efficiency by both individuals and institutions.

It was discussed in Paris about all the ways in which ecological and climate disasters can be prevented.

“All participants agreed on making a document which will be legally binding for all countries of the world, and it is still not defined what will be the quota of gas emission reduction. The European Union suggests to its members a reduction by 40 percent of CO2 emission. On the other side, success depends on the largest pollutants, USA, China and Russia, and on what quota of gas emission reduction they will agree on,” Trbić said.
