The BiH Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ana Trišić-Babić spoke yesterday with the Secretary of State of Foreign Affairs of Romania Radu Podgoreanu.

Trišić-Babić spoke to him about the foreign policy priorities and the internal situation in BiH, and stressed the importance of the upcoming visit of the Chairman of the BiH Presidency to Romania Nebojša Radmanović.

Secretary of State Podgoreanu spoke with Deputy Minister Trišić-Babić of Romania’s experience in European and Euro Atlantic integration and the internal situation in the country, stressing that for his country the signing of the Agreement on Double Taxation Avoidance was very important, and the Agreement on Economic Cooperation between the two countries.

Trišić-Babić thanked Romania for its contributions in maintaining peace in BiH through its EUFOR forces, as well as cooperation within the TAIEX program.

She pointed out Romania’s very important role in lending BiH its own experiences on Euro Atlantic and European integration, stressing that the priorities of our country are to resolve the issues of military property, implementation of the “Sejdić-Finci” ruling, and Croatia’s forthcoming accession to the EU. Romania and all other EU member states would give support to BiH at sessions of the European Commission in addressing border crossings for BiH citizens with their ID cards after Croatia’s accession.

They agreed that there is mutual interest for stronger cooperation in the area of regional initiatives. When it comes to the Strategy of the EU for the Danube Region (EUSDR), Deputy Minister Trišić-Babić expressed the interest of BiH in development of the region by the river Sava and activating the port Brčko. She especially emphasized concrete cooperation between BiH and Romania in adopting European standards and approaching European and Euro Atlantic Integration of our country.
