From the Collected Plugs “Earned” Six Wheelchairs for Persons with Disabilities

čepoviMembres of the youth association “Reaktiv” finished the first phase of the project realization “Svaki čep stavi u džep!”, in which youth from Sarajevo, Kakanj, Živinice, Tuzla, Cazin, Bihać, Višegrad, Brčko, Ključ, Travnik and other cities take participation.

Project was initiated last year with the aim to collect plastic bottle plugs and to safeguard new wheelchairs fro person with disabilities, and this action was supported with many public figures. All the collected plastic plugs will be given to one Turkish company which will recycle them, and for all 250 kilograms of plugs, the company will buy one wheelchair.

According to the last information, the youth from B&H have 6 wheelchairs, but that number can be greater if they gather more plugs till the end of May. The biggest contribution gave one Sarajevo school, with 500 kilograms and 2 schools from Kakanj which collected 250 kilograms of plastic plugs.

These days, they are working on the transport of plugs from other cities and the places for the collection are the association “Reaktiv” in Zenica and the Centre for education and research “Nahla” in Sarajevo. After all the collected plugs arrive on the collection sites, they will be sent to the recycling fabric in Turkey.
