Granicni_prelaz3The public company “Autoceste FBiH” from Mostar completed works on the construction of the border crossing Bijača, which was worth 12 million KM, announced on the site of “Autoceste FBIH”.

Local companies “Euroasfalt”, ŽGP and “Hidrogradnja” were engaged in the construction, and the works were financed by their own funds, and before the funds were approved by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) became available.

This will be one of the two international border crossings where it will be possible to import and export all goods, after Croatia becomes a member of the European Union on 1 July.

“Autoceste FBiH finished one more project before the deadline’’, said Ensad Karić, the Director of ‘Autoceste BiH’. He stressed that further work will be taken over by the BIH Indirect Taxation Authority, which will begin with construction, equipping and putting into function the border crossing Bijača.

“I am especially pleased that this project has been carried out successfully in cooperation with local companies, which proves that we have the expertise and capacity to build modern highways under deadlines’’, concluded Karić.

The works lasted for five months, and the official deadline was 1 June 2013.

“The biggest challenge was to excavate a hill 30 meters high, and 180 meters wide, which was done in three months’’, said Antonio Križanac, head of the project Bijača – Kravice.
