The remains of at least four victims of the past war were exhumed today at the locality of Donja Dragotinja, which is located in the area of the municipality of Prijedor.
The exhumation at this site began yesterday, and was completed today after a detailed inspection of the site.
According to the information available to the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is assumed that the exhumed remains belong to victims of Bosniak nationality who were killed in this area in 1992.
“During the exhumation, it was noticed that the hands of two of the four exhumed victims were tied behind their backs with belts from their trousers. According to the medical examiner, these are the remains of four men. Along with the remains, some clothes were also found,” it was announced from Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
After the exhumation, the remains of the victims were transferred to the Šejkovača Identification Center for forensic – medical and criminal – technical processing and the extraction of bone samples with the aim of identifying the victims with the help of the DNA method.
The exhumation was carried out under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and according to the order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and during the two-day exhumation there were investigators from the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a forensic medicine doctor, anthropologists of the International Commission for Missing Persons, workers, machinery as well as members of the Prijedor Police Department who secured the exhumation site, AA writes.
