What was concluded at the Meeting Lavrov – Dodik?

lavrov_dodikMoscow is concerned by attempts to modify the Dayton Agreement with the support of the West, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergei Lavrov in a conversation with the President of the RS Milorad Dodik that was held in Moscow.

Lavrov noted that Russia’s position is based on the agreements that have been agreed so far, particularly during Dodik’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as reported by the Russian news agency ‘TASS’.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia said that the aim of these agreements is to ensure “strict compliance” with the Dayton Agreement and to prevent violations of constitutional rights.

“Recent attempts to re-examine these principles are causing concern. We know that some of our colleagues from the West turn a blind eye to such attempts or openly supported them. We have undertaken active steps to keep them within the limits approved by the United Nations,” stated Lavrov.

Dodik previously said for ‘TASS’ that there will be no referendum on the matter of independence of the RS, although many would like it to be held.

“We are not adventurous. However, we do not exclude that we will hold a referendum regarding the status in case there are no satisfactory solutions for us. This is logical in political life,” said Dodik.

He added that it would be most convenient for the RS if BiH got back to the “letter” of the Dayton Agreement.

“That would be a BiH where we could be. It would be difficult for us to stay in any other BiH,” said Dodik.
