Two tunnels in Ivan Sedlo will be constructed as a part of highway on Corridor 5c, and the flow of air that will be created with the construction of large pipes benefit greatly, because the flow coming from the tunnel will reduce the pollution in Sarajevo

Professor of Faculty of Traffic in Sarajevo Osman Lindov said that the two tunnels have already been designed.

”Tunnels’ diameter will be used for traffic, and it will help better circulation of air. I’m aware that the idea of constructing the tunnel in Ivan Sedlo for the sake of air circulation existed before, and so the project of constructing the highway coincided with earlier plan which will without a doubt help the circulation of air for Sarajevo valley”, said Lindov.

Former mayor of Sarajevo Salko Selimović said to ”Dnevni Avaz” that the idea of constructing the tunnel existed before.

”Air pollution in Sarajevo was heavy before, and many experts agreed that the tunnel in Ivan Sedlo should be constructed for the better circulation of air”, said Selimović.

Selimović said that the opening any space for the air circulation will be of great help and added that the construction of tunnels will force out the polluted air from the Sarajevo valley.
