Sarajevo bypassEmployees of construction companies Euro-Asfalt and ŽGP launched the construction of LOT 2C, the final section of the Sarajevo bypass which will connect the roundabout in Briješće with the Safeta Zajke Street.

With the construction of this road, the Novi Grad Municipality will get another exit to the Corridor 5C, after the construction of the roundabout in Briješće which was the first connection with the Corridor. Drivers coming from the direction of Boljakov Potok will have a direct and faster connection with the Stup look via the roundabout Briješće, and traffic to and from Rajlovac will also be significantly disburdened.

Construction of the LOT 2C will cost a little over 9.5 million BAM and expropriation of the land will cost about 4.2 million BAM. All summed up, the project will cost about 14 million BAM. Total length of the LOT 2C is about 1.2 kilometers and works are currently being executed on the first part of this section for which the Novi Grad Municipality issued a construction permit. That is the first and the most demanding part of the section, about 750 meters long. It will be constructed from the end of the Briješće viaduct and will also include a bridge over the railway.

“Contractor is working on replacing the foundation soil in the depth of one meter, due to poor geomechanical characteristics,” said Mirsad Dizdarević, project coordinator in the Public Enterprise Roads of FBiH, which is the project implementer.

Dizdarević also highlighted that construction of the foundation for the bridge over the railway will also begin soon and added that expropriation of land for this part of the section was executed by the Municipality of Novi Grad and Government of the Sarajevo Canton.

According to plans, works should be completed in five months. In the meantime, it is being worked on solving the remaining property issues at the part of the section where the bypass will connect to the Safeta Zajke Street. Construction of a roundabout is foreseen here.

This project, financed with funds from the European Investment Bank and the OPEC Fund, will solve the issue of entrance to and exit from the main part of the capital of BiH in the best possible way.
