Wheat Production in BiH Increased by 7.2 percent

In 2012, wheat production in BiH rose by 7.2 percent in comparison to the previous year, and 11.2 percent for rye, according to the statistics by the BiH Agency for Statistics.

Yield reduction was recorded in all other crops, and especially in corn by 29.4 percent, buckwheat for 27.8 percent, canola by 63.3 percent, potatoes for 27.3 percent, carrots by 33.8 percent, beans for 20.9 percent, alfalfa by 20.4 percent and fodder beet by 45.3 percent.

In BiH in 2012 52.2 percent of arable land was sown, 26 percent of forage crops, 15 percent of vegetables and 2 percent for industrial crops, according to statistics from the BiH Agency for Statistics.

The harvested area for wheat last year was higher for 4 percent than in 2011, rye by 4.9 percent, soya by 37.1 percent, tobacco by 6.1 percent, garlic by 6.3 percent, peas by 7.8 percent and corn under the stern by 7.7 percent.

The harvested area for barley decreased by 1.4 percent, buckwheat by 3.4 percent, oil by 59.2 percent and fodder beet by 28.2 percent in comparison to 2011.
