tramAfter an adaptation was announced, i.e. the “closing“ of four tram stations, the Ministry of Transportation of the Sarajevo canton expressed desire to extend the project to all the existing tram stations in the city.

The main project for construction of eight tram stations with controlled charging was completed at the following tram stations: Dolac Malta, Socijalno, Čengić Vila and Otoka. In addition, activities are being implemented on the realization of the project of construction of tram stations with controlled charging at all tram stations.

“It is planned to construct tram stations in Sarajevo which will be on the level of fulfilling conditions which guarantee high percentage of reimbursement of transportation services, as well as a good standard of services at the station, which includes the covered area of tram station, fenced area of tram station, equipped area of tram station with accompanying amenities such as sale points, areas for information about transportation in real time, etc.,“ stated the Ministry of Transportation of the Sarajevo Canton.

Current Budget of the Sarajevo Canton foresees funds for construction of eight tram stations with controlled charging, and activities are being implemented on finding a partner (private-public partnership) for construction of all tram stations. Estimated value of one tram station is 45.000 BAM.

As confirmed by the Ministry of Transportation of the Sarajevo Canton, the beginning of works is expected in the summer period this year.

Regarding the possible construction of trolleybus, bus and minibus stations with controlled charging, that will largely depend on terrain configuration.

“That will depend on locations of the mentioned stations because a large number of stations do not meet the minimum technical conditions for construction and use,“ the Ministry stated.
