Covic: Federation of BiH cannot survive without strong trust between Croats and Bosniaks

HDZ BiH party leader Dragan Covic stated that the Federation of BiH cannot survive as a functional part of BiH without strong trust between Croats and Bosniaks.

“We want to encourage fellow Bosniaks to understand that BiH cannot be controlled by numbers, that it is not good for the Bosniak people either if the rights of the Croat people are usurped and political representatives are imposed,” Covic pointed out.

He said that the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina will have to be changed no later than six months after the elections, when this was not done before the elections, and added that all relevant European and American representatives made this known.

“BiH can only survive as a state of three constituent nations, which, after all, is confirmed by the last population census in which 97 percent of the people in BiH declared that they belong to one of those three nations, which speaks volumes about the relations in BiH,” Covic told “Večernji” list”, edition for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to him, denying such declaration of people in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the last census and “turning the country into an alleged civil state in order for the most numerous people to dominate this area is very dangerous”.

“Today it should be clearly stated that this is a failed and backward policy that is not supported by the majority of people in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I tell the representatives of the international community to see what we have been doing in the past few years and how we have come to a position where we are completely behind on the European path,” he said.
