Croatian President about BiH: Today, Croatia’s Position is stronger than ever, we must use it

On Friday, the President of the Republic met with ambassadors, general consuls and military envoys of the Republic of Croatia who are participating in the two-day annual conference in Zagreb.

The president spoke with Croatian diplomats about the key topics of Croatian foreign policy, with special emphasis on the relationship with Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Serbia, and Croatia’s position in the current crisis caused by Russian aggression against Ukraine, Vecernji list reported.

Speaking about relations with BiH, he emphasized the crucial importance of the Dayton Agreement “as a treaty on the division of power and authority that must be respected.”

“Croatia’s position is stronger today than ever, but we have to use it, not just talk about it. Croatia as a country has strong instruments at its disposal, and we have to act that way,” Milanovic told.

To recall, Croatia is advocating for changes to the BiH Election Law in order to enable what it calls “legitimate representation”. Pro-Bosnian forces claim that this would cement the ethnic division of the country.

Along with about a hundred Croatian ambassadors, consuls general, consuls and military envoys, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and officials of the Office of the President of the Republic were also present at the meeting, Klix.ba writes.
