The Spanish Cinematography Series, organized by the Embassy of Spain in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in cooperation with the OKC Abrašević, will be held from April 23 to 27 in Mostar.
The audience will have the opportunity to watch five Spanish feature films in their original versions with subtitles in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The series begins on April 23 with the film “El Olivo” (The Olive) directed by Icíar Bollaín. The film follows the headstrong and courageous girl Alma, who sets off on a journey from Spain to Germany to retrieve an ancient olive tree that means a lot to her sick grandfather, which her family uprooted and sold against his will 12 years ago.
On Thursday, April 24, the film “Lamentable Stories” (Historias lamentables), directed by Javier Fesser, will be screened. Although the title might not suggest it, this comedy brings four individual stories of seemingly incompatible characters. But the saying that the world is a small place will once again prove true.
Friday, April 25th is reserved for the film “Pig” (Cerdita), directed by Carlota Pereda and the story of Sara, a girl who suffers daily insults from her surroundings because of her weight. A sudden kidnapping case in the village changes everyday life in which the fate of her kidnapped friends depends on Sara.
On Saturday, April 26th, the audience can enjoy Daniel Calparsor’s film “Rob the Thief” (Cien años de perdón), an action thriller about a bank robbery that goes wrong.
The Spanish cinema cycle ends on Sunday, April 27th with Asghar Farhadia’s film “Everybody Knows” (Todos lo saben), starring Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem.
Screenings start at 7 pm at the OKC Abrašević, and admission is free.
