The Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic has adopted a resolution on the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica, emphasizing that a modern Europe has no place for glorifying war criminals or denying genocide.

The conclusion, as noted in the statement of the Embassy of Czech Republic in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was made following the visit of the Committee on EU Affairs of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic to Bosnia and Herzegovina Delegation from May 11 to May 14, 2026.

The resolution recalled the Resolution of the UN General Assembly 78/282 since May 23, 2024, which recognized July 11 as the International Remembrance Day and Commemoration of Genocide in Srebrenica in 1995.

The conclusion stated that public commemoration of crimes in Srebrenica and UN Resolution represent contribution to the efforts for ensuring stability in the region and strengthening unity in diversity in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Senate noted that, over 30 years after the conflict ended, it is necessary to build future of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the grounds of reconciliation, mutual respect, peace, and progress.

The obligation of strong opposition to all forms of historical revisionism and separatist tendencies is also emphasized, sending a message that within the European Union there must be a room for prosperous Bosnia and Herzegovina as a state of all its citizens, regardless of the nationality or religion, it was stated in a press release by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
