Czechs are delighted with Sarajevo Cevapi in Prague

Sarajevo’s ćevapi have been smelling this year in the Czech capital, Prague, since at the beginning of the year, Miralem and Vesna Rugovac opened a real Bosnian restaurant “Balkanske tajne” (Balkan’s Secrets).

As the owners of the kebab shop tell Fena news agency, the idea to open a kebab shop arose a long time ago.

“We came to Prague 11 years ago. We had to get used to a new life. Everything was different, the way of life, the environment and most of all the food. Every day there was a growing desire for our traditional dishes, which could not be found in Prague,” say Miralem and Vesna.

From year to year, the desire to open a cevap (kebab) shop where they would convey the Bosnian spirit and enable people from the former Yugoslavia to enjoy the traditional ambience, the original Sarajevo cevap and Bosnian coffee, became more and more apparent.

“As for local housing, they are delighted! They are familiar with what ćevapcici, pljeskavica, and baklava are from their summer vacation in Croatia. Almost 30 percent of our guests are Czechs,” say the two.

The owners purchase the meat for the kebabs in Austria because it is a higher quality product, and everything is made in Prague. In addition to kebabs, guests can try pljeskavice, sudzukice, chicken, and the owners plan to expand the range of products, as well as the business – to open another restaurant.
