The leadership of the HDZ made a decision that Darijana Filipović will be the party’s candidate for the member of the BiH Presidency from among the Croatian people.

“I accepted the responsibility with a sense of the weight of the political moment. I grew up in a perhaps unsafe environment, but with the responsibility that we can build the future through work, and that shaped the view of politics today,” she pointed out.

She also stated that she is not alone, but that generations of people from this party stand behind her.

“We want a BiH in which the Croatian people will be equal. Equality is the democratic minimum we want to achieve, the foundation, and quality life of all people in BiH is our goal. This is a call to all politicians to take responsibility, to jointly build a stable, European BiH. I am convinced that with joint efforts we can offer this vision to everyone in BiH,” she said.

One of her messages was that she does not perceive the candidacy as a realization of personal political ambition, but trust towards every person from Neum to Posavina.

“For me, politics is not a place of continuous political conflicts, but a space that opens up responsibility towards the voters,” she stated.

When asked about the other candidates, she replied that they are all responsible for the position of the Croatian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“We don’t have to think the same way, but we have to have responsibility. I’m convinced that all political actors will make their moves accordingly. It’s up to me to show that I’m a candidate who can gather members who think the same way, that I’m the one with the most capacity,” she stated.

To win, she will have to win more votes than Slaven Kovačević (DF) and the joint candidate of the Croatian Five (HDZ 1990, Croatian Republican Party (HRS), Croatian National Movement (HNP), Croatian Democratic Alliance and Croatian Peasant Party).

Darijana Filipović won 24,653 votes in the 2022 general elections as a candidate for the state parliament. She is currently the vice-president of the HDZ and the deputy chairman of the Club of HDZ BiH – HNS BiH representatives. She also serves as the head of the HDZ Election Staff.

Darijana Filipović was born on January 26, 1987 in Mostar, she finished high school in Stolac, where she is originally from, and she received her university education at the Faculty of Economics, University of Mostar.

Until 2014, she was the Secretary General of the Cantonal Committee of the HDZ BiH of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. In the 2014 elections, she was elected to the Parliament of the Federation of BiH and received 4,054 votes.

In the 2018 elections, she finished in third place by the number of votes in the HDZ, but since Bariša Čolak, who had more votes than her, entered the House of Peoples, Filipović entered the House of Representatives.

During this mandate, she was the Deputy Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Joint Committee on Human Rights of the BiH PA, Klix.ba writes.
