Representatives of the anti-fascist association, SABNOR, and the cantonal and municipal authorities today marked July 27, the Day of the Uprising of the People of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in front of the Eternal Flame by laying flowers and paying tribute.
The Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton Nihad Uk, the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs of the Canton Sarajevo Omer Osmanović and the Head of the Municipality of Centar Srđan Mandić pointed out the importance of marking July 27, the day in 1941 when a small and brave group of people decided to defeat the fascists and occupiers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
That was a turning point, Prime Minister Uk said, in order to mass the resistance movement in the Second World War and so that today BiH would have the freedom that brave fighters fought for during the Second World War and in the war from 1992 to 1995.
The president of SABNOR KS, Mirsad Ćatić, said that July 27 is the day of the uprising of the freedom-loving people of Bosnia and Herzegovina who recognized the evil of fascism and were determined to express their libertarian spirit, which is to “stand their ground and ultimately show that they do not want to to be serfs, but they want to live freely in their country”.
“This should be a lesson to all of us that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country of all people who have lived together for centuries,” said Čatić.
As part of the commemoration of July 27 – the Day of the Uprising of the People of BiH and 75 years of activity of SABNOR BiH, the laying of flowers will be held tonight also at the “Vraca” Memorial Park, where a formal reception will be held, an appropriate presentation on the importance of the uprising, and there will be a festive concert of the Military Orchestra of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina was also held.
