Day of RS deleted from the List: January 9 will be a Day like every other?

To match interview BOSNIA-SERBS/Success of the referendum on the Day of RS is best evidenced by the fact that January 9, the day when this holiday is supposed to be celebrated, is a working day in the RS and according to the amendments to the Law on Holidays it is deleted from the list of official holidays in the smaller BiH entity.

This information was confirmed by the recent announcement from the Ministry of Administration and Local Government of RS, in which it is stated that “in accordance with articles 2 and 3 of the Law on Holidays in the RS the republic holiday is New Year, which is celebrated on Sunday (January 1, 2017) and Monday (January 2, 2017) and those are non-working days”.

“In accordance with the Article 7 of the Law on Holidays in the RS, religious holiday is the Orthodox Christmas which is celebrated on the Christmas Eve and the Christmas day, so the Orthodox believers have the right to be absent from work on January 6, 2017 (Friday) and January 7, 2017 (Saturday),” stated the Ministry.

Inspection of the official Law on Holidays in the RS shows that the latest amendments made the so-called “Day of the Republic” ineffective.

This statement by the ministry and mentioned amendments to the law went unnoticed in the RS media under control of the Milorad Dodik’s regime and they show that the Government of the RS, after the entire show about the referendum in the Day of RS, is trying to respect the Decision by the Constitutional Court of BiH based on the appeal by the BiH Presidency Member Bakir Izetbegović.

National Assembly of RS also never published the results of the referendum in the Official Gazette of the RS, so the citizens can rightfully ask themselves why so much money was spent on billboards with messages “The right to celebrate” and why the “defense” of this holiday is celebrated.
