Democratic Front requests dismissal of Minister for Statements about War Criminals

The DF representatives’ club in the House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament requested that the agenda of the next session of this house be supplemented with their initiative, in which they demand the dismissal of the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Federation, Sanja Vlaisavljević.

As they state, they submitted the request for her dismissal on May 11, and that was because of her statements about the rehabilitation of war criminals.

Sanja Vlaisavljevic, Federal Minister of Culture and Sports, attracted public attention with her new media appearance. An appearance that will not be remembered for the high-quality announcements of solutions from her ministerial duties, but for insulting the victims of war criminals. In short, Dario Kordic, nor any other war criminal after serving his sentence, is no longer that, the minister said. Loyalty to the party that appointed her to this position obviously knows no bounds. As a reminder, 116 civilians were killed in Ahmici. War criminal Dario Kordic was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

“He must be rehabilitated into society, he has served his sentence, anyone. Here, Sanja Vlaisavljevic has served her sentence for a war crime. Now what do you think, should we send Sanja Vlaisavljevic to Goli otok after serving her sentence, because she no longer deserves to be a human being because she was tried and sentenced,” Vlaisavljevic stated.

Niksic distanced himself from the minister’s opinion and sent an apology

Minister Sanja Vlaisavljevic did not have time to clarify her position due to her earlier obligations. Victims from Ahmici were among the first to react. They had concrete demands for Federal Prime Minister Nermin Niksic.

“We ask you to publicly disassociate yourself from the minister’s statement and take measures and actions aimed at protecting the constitutional order and peace of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) and BiH, and that as Prime Minister of FBiH, you protect us, victims of crime, from denying and glorifying crimes and criminals. Otherwise, we will consider the position of the minister to be the position of the Government headed by you,” said the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide and the April 16th Association.

The called-out Prime Minister Niksic distanced himself from the minister’s opinion and apologized, primarily to the victims.

“For me, a criminal is a criminal, especially those who have been sentenced, regardless of whether they have served their sentence or not. It is theirs to live with that for the rest of their lives, and for me, there is no doubt that these people marked their lives by inflicting harm on others, especially innocent victims,” Niksic stated.
