After the damaged part of the “Nermine, come here” monument, dedicated to the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica, was destroyed in the center of Sarajevo on the evening of October 20, the City of Sarajevo urgently began the creation of a new plaque. A new one was posted this morning.
“A new plaque at the “Nermine, come here” monument has been installed. Sarajevo respects and remembers”, wrote the mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić, on the X network.
This sculpture is a symbol of one of the saddest and most moving stories of the Srebrenica genocide. It shows how father Ramo Osmanović calls his son Nermin to surrender to Serbian soldiers.
In 2008, Ramo and Nermin were found by an exhumation team in a mass grave near Srebrenica.
