The construction of a protective barrier against flooding in the length of around 2.100 meters has started in Doboj, whose setting up will cost up to 800.000 BAM.
It is a protective barrier from the mouth of Usora River, downstream to the so-called depot located in the immediate vicinity of the traffic lights.
The Officer of the City Administration Rade Djurdjevic said that the means were provided by the UNDP and the City of Doboj.
Djurdjevic stated that the protective barrier is being constructed of one meter high concrete blocks, in order to reach the height which is 30 centimeters above the flooding point of the Bosna River during last year’s floods. According to him, the embankment is being constructed in two stages.
“The first stage includes the section from the old Railway Bridge downstream in the length of around 1.400 m, and it will cost 430.000 BAM. The second stage in the amount of around 350.000 BAM includes the section from the Railway Bridge upstream to the mouth of Usora River in the length of around 700 m”, Djurdjevic said.
Djurdjevic stated that the protective barrier is being constructed at the critical points of flooding, until the provision of 20.000.000 BAM for the implementation of the project of regulation of the basic riverbed of Bosna River in the length of five kilometers, due to protecting the city and the settlements on both banks of the river from floods.
The costs of project elaboration were provided by the Government of Republika Srpska, through the Solidarity Fund for Reconstruction.
