Dodik calls the Russian Aggression against Ukraine a special Intervention

Member of Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Milorad Dodik addressed the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (NARS) yesterday, discussing relations between Russia and the West and BiH‘s role in it, and explained that RS still wants to remain neutral in everything.

In the part of his address, Dodik again referred to the competencies that the RS entity had, which were transferred to the level of BiH.

“At the end of the war, the Dayton Agreement was passed, in which RS agreed to get involved in the implementation of the agreement and thus showed commitment to peace and everything that was important at that time. The development of Dayton led to degradation. It is clear that many nice words wereto the detriment of the RS and that we degraded our position through the interventions of the High Representative and the decisions of the Constitutional Court, and we lost our competencies,” Dodik noted.

Afterward, he said the transfer of power remained in the shadow of the war in Ukraine, which he called “Russia’s special intervention“.

“It is obvious that BiH is incapable of affirming the rights of RS. We could not reach a consensus on the question – of whether we are ready to implement the Constitution of the country in which we live. We reached conclusions on December 10th to deal with these issues. However, on February 24th, there was a special intervention of the Russian Federation and it has led us all to deal with these issues. RS is not a significant geopolitical factor, but we must not lose our role of neutrality. This session today is to deal with global political processes to understand them well,” said Dodik

After that, he referred to the sixth package of sanctions that the European Union (EU) imposed on Russia.

“The conflict has polarized the world and put in a position that the West wanted to impose mass sanctions on Russia. The sixth package of sanctions was introduced by trying to ensure everyone’s consent and try to show unity. This led to the collapse of BiH’s foreign policy. They think that there are those who believe that sanctions have been imposed and those who think that they have not. Formally and legally, they have not, but there have been irresponsible individuals who have joined the resolutions at the multilateral level,” he said.

At the end of his address, he also referred to the United States (U.S.), which, as they say, played a significant role in BiH.

“It should be noted, however, that we are grateful to the U.S. for its efforts to create Dayton, which ended the war in BiH. It is important to point out that it came at a very unfavorable time for us because our army was fully defensive at the time and it is questionable whether RS would exist at all if there was no Dayton Peace Agreement, ” concluded Dodik, Klix.ba writes.
