The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, signed decrees tonight on the promulgation of laws banning the activities of the Court and Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, SIPA, and the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH (HJPC) in that entity.
These acts were adopted by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (NARS) at a special session on February 27 and are contrary to the provisions of the Constitution of BiH, and many analysts consider them a coup d’état.
Dodik signed the decrees after the Bosniak Club in the Council of Peoples of the RS decided not to seek a review of the constitutionality of these laws from the Constitutional Court of this BiH entity.
They were adopted immediately after the Court of BiH sentenced Dodik to a year in prison and a six-year ban on holding the office of President of the RS.
It is expected that a review of the constitutionality of these acts will be requested before the Constitutional Court of BiH.
Today in Banja Luka, Dodik also signed decrees promulgating the Law on Amendments to the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska and the Law on the Special Registry and Publicity of the Work of Non-Profit Organizations.
