On Monday, August 31, a protest by carriers from Bosnia and Herzegovina will be held in Sarajevo in front of the headquarters of the EU Delegation, Srna was fold from the Logistics Consortium.

Consortium member Nikola Brković said that a gathering is planned for 11:00 a.m. in front of the building of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, and that at 11:30 a.m. the protest column will go to the headquarters of the EU Delegation.

“The protest will last from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., and a protest drive will be organized from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Sarajevo,” said Brković.

According to him, on the same day and at the same time, transporter protests will be held in other countries of the Western Balkans, ahead of the meeting of the European Commission on September 1, where the main topic will be drivers from the Western Balkans.

“If nothing is resolved on September 1 and we receive a negative response from Brussels, we will organize protests at all border crossings with the EU, which are currently planned for September 14,” said Brković.

Carriers from the region expect the EU to offer a concrete solution to the problem of limited stay of professional drivers in the Schengen area by September 1.

Carriers from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia are asking the EU to respond to their request that professional drivers receive residence conditions adapted to the specifics of their work.

Professional drivers emphasize that they do not stay in the Schengen countries for tourism, but for work, which is why they believe that they should not be treated in the same way as travelers who come for tourist or private visits.
