While battling unprecedented wildfires in the Los Angeles area, California has been struck by another calamity. Namely, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.7 on the Richter scale was recorded near San Francisco Bay.
The earthquake struck at 07:02 a.m. local time with an epicenter in the sea about 8 kilometers southwest of the Golden Gate Bridge and three kilometers west of the Great Freeway and at a depth of 8 kilometers.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that more than 5,000 people reported feeling tremors in the area.
