Bosnian sports journalist, commentator and columnist Edin Avdić died today in Sarajevo at the age of 47.

The news of his death was confirmed by several sources, and the departure of one of the most recognizable sports voices in the region affected many colleagues, athletes and sports fans.

Avdić was born on June 19, 1979 in Sarajevo. He graduated in journalism at the Faculty of Political Sciences, and before his career as a journalist, he was actively involved in basketball, performing for the youth selections of the Bosnia Basketball Club.

During his long career, he worked at Federal Television and OBN, where he gained great popularity as a commentator of the NBA League. Later, he became one of the most recognizable faces of Arena Sport, where he particularly distinguished himself with his energetic commentating style, expert analyzes and excellent knowledge of basketball.

He was respected throughout the region as one of the best experts on NBA and European basketball, and for years his columns were among the most read sports texts in this region, writes Raport.ba.

In recent years, he successfully hosted the popular podcast “Udvajanje” together with Miloš Jovanović, as well as the author’s show “X&O’s Chat” on Una television.

Thanks to his knowledge, charisma and authentic approach, Edin Avdić left an indelible mark on sports journalism in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

His death represents a great loss for the media and sports scene, and he left behind generations of viewers and listeners whom he educated, informed and entertained for years with his unique style.
