The Embassy of the USA in BiH, in cooperation with publishing house ‘Šahinpašić’ and ‘SOS Dizajn’ will soon realise the project ‘One BiH, One Book’, reports FENA.

The project is based on the American projects such as ‘What if the entire Seattle would read the same book’ and ‘One City, One Book’.

Project of community reading was created by librarian Nancy Pearl in 1998 with the wish to incite talks and creation of new friendship through book discussions in the entire community.

The project ‘One BIH, one book’ has started in schools and libraries in January 2013, when Pearl visited BIH and held several workshops and lectures.

From then till today, the Embassy of the USA has given more than 1400 copies of Sherman Alexie’s book ‘The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian’ to schools and NGOs in BIH, and 69 high-schools from BIH has signed to participate in the project, during which they would discuss the book.

During April and May 2013, the Embassy, together with American corners and schools that participate in the project, will work on organising a series of activities in the entire BiH, such as film projections, lectures, discussions, etc.

Writer Sherman Alexie will meet BiH students in Seattle.

The program will solemnly be closed on 11 and 12 May 2013.

Two day festival for students will include events such as state English spelling competition, visit of book illustrator Ellen Forney, plays and performances, students’ presentations, and the award ceremony for winner of the competitions, said the PR office of the US Embassy.
