larsHead of the EU Delegation to BiH Lars-Gunnar Wigemark said that in the last 20 years a lot has been done in the agricultural sector, in which the EU has so far invested around 30 million Euros.

“We certainly want to do more, and in order for that be possible, it is necessary for us to adopt the strategy. In the context of the strategy itself, a lot of work has already been done, and now we need a political will for it to be adopted,” added Wigemark during the opening the forum “European perspective of agriculture in BiH”.

He added that farmers are in a very difficult position and that they did not get all the subsidies that belong to them from different levels of government.

Moreover, he stressed the need for better organization of farm production.

“Their current way of organizations through associations is not coherent. They need to be more united and stronger in their performance,” said Wigemark.

Speaking to reporters, Wigemark said that this is the eighth forum on agriculture and rural development, and the set of activities of the Office of the EU Special Representative in BiH are continued in that way.
