The ban on the export of chicken meat from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the EU should be lifted today, said the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republika Srpska.
Assistant Minister of Veterinary Medicine of Republika Srpska, Negoslav Lukić, previously reminded that the ban lasted for four months, that is, since bird flu was detected in the area of the municipality of Petrovo.
“The lifting of the ban on the export of chicken meat is of great importance for domestic producers,” Lukić said.
Avian flu was recorded in the area of the municipality of Petrovo in February, while the surveillance zones were abolished at the beginning of April, since when the return of the export status of chicken meat to the EU market was expected.
Poultry is the only branch of animal husbandry in Bosnia and Herzegovina that has a surplus in foreign trade.
