Hajrija Morić today arrived to the Agricultural Cooperative in Kravica where her husband was killed and where military and police forces of Republika Srpska, according to the testimonies of the survivors in The Hague Tribunal, killed more than 1.000 Bosniaks in July 1995.
Hajrija says that she found only several bones of her husband, after six years of searching for his remains.
“I am happy for at least burying him. I have been waiting for his remains, which were found in five mass graves, for six years. Now I only have a daughter, and they still deny the genocide,” Morić says.
Hatidža Mehmedović, President of the Organization Mothers of Srebrenica which fights for justice for the mothers of Srebrenica and for the proving of genocide, said that even 21 years after the crime there is no memorial for the killed people in Kravica.
“We hope that a memorial will soon be raised here in memory of the innocent victims who were killed at this place, and we will never stop coming here. It is common knowledge that people were killed just because of their name, and we do not want to provoke anyone today, we just want to mark this day and visit our people. We are doing this mostly because of our children who need to know what happened here and to prevent this from happening ever again to anyone else. Our families were being killed in the most brutal ways, and the Europe and the world were silent,” Mehmedović said.
The surviving victims of the genocide in Srebrenica and family members of the killed today laid flowers and wreaths in Kravica. Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska were ensuring the safe stay of mothers of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide, family and friends.
Visit to the mass execution site of Bosniaks in Kravica and laying of flowers in the Agricultural Cooperative were held on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, two days after the commemoration and funeral of 127 victims in the Memorial Center Potočari-Srebrenica.
