The Sarajevo Swimming Club continued its excellent results at the beginning of the new competitive season, last weekend the young swimmers of that club performed in Subotica at the international swimming meeting “Subotica Autumn Cup 2026”, which was organized by the Spartak Swimming Club and gathered around 370 competitors from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The colors of the Club were defended by five competitors – Esma Dizić, Uma Mujan, Vedad Ligata, Faruk Avdić and Vedad Avdić, and the team returned from Subotica with a cup and a total of six medals won, along with a large number of new personal records.
In the center of attention was Esma Dizić, who once again confirmed her abilities, she was declared the most successful competitor in the competition of girls born in 2015, and she reached a valuable individual recognition with two gold medals won.
Vedad Ligata also had a particularly valuable performance. This young member of the Club swam the 100-meter freestyle in 1:02.99, achieving a significant personal result that ranks him among the most notable juniors in Bosnia and Herzegovina in this discipline. Ligata rounded off a successful weekend by winning a bronze medal in the 100-meter medley.
Uma Mujan was also excellent, winning the gold medal in the 100-meter medley, while she won bronze in the 100-meter dolphin.
Faruk Avdić won the gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke.
Vedad Avdić also performed for Plivački klub Sarajevo.
In addition to the medals won, it is particularly important for the professional staff that the competitors of the Sarajevo Swimming Club achieved the best personal results in most disciplines, and that for the second weekend in a row. Continuity of progress shows the good form of the team at this stage of the season, and the result of the Vedada Ligata in the 100 meter freestyle stands out as one of the most significant individual indicators of progress.
The Sarajevo Swimming Club thanked the host, the Spartak Swimming Club, for the hospitality, excellent organization and atmosphere, while the team, after a successful performance in Subotica, is turning to the continuation of work and new sporting goals.
Next weekend, the young swimmers are expected to perform in Sarajevo, where they will face a new challenge – a competition in the 50-meter pool.
