170221121.1_mnIn the gallery of the Bosnian Cultural Center in Tuzla, the exhibition “War monuments in BiH (1991)”, is opened. The exhibition is organized by the Centre for Nonviolent Action (CNA) with offices in Sarajevo and Belgrade.

The organizers have worked for years for this exhibition, studied and photographed to document for remembrance in BiH. Visitors have the opportunity to see 50 photos.

One of the two authors of the photos, a CNA activist Nenad Vukosavljevic said that the exhibitions are very well received, was a very little negative reaction and a lot of positive ones. Moreover, he added that exhibition is instructive and that it brings memories.

The public is offered an incentive to question the dominant way of treating the past through ethnic projections. This represents a test for establishing the memories of the last war, which will guarantee that the injustice, pain, and war will not be repeated, adds Vukosavljevic.

A total of 84 documented monuments have been published in the publication “The war memories”, and the selection of the photographs is presented at the exhibition. Authors sought to draw up a kind of representative sample of monuments that are dedicated to the soldiers, civilian casualties and were raised for all three ethnic groups.

The exhibition has so far been opened in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar, Bihac, Belgrade and Vienna. Visitors will be able to see the exhibition until 4th March.
