Exports of Fruits decreased by 8.9 Percent, Imports increased by 11.5 Percent

Exports of the fruit and fruit products sector from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in the first half of the year amounted to about 47.26 million BAM and is lower by 8.9 percent compared to the same period last year, while imports are higher by 11.5 percent since it amounted to about 101. 25 million BAM.

The export of frozen raspberries in the first six months is more dominant compared to other fruit crops and amounted to about 26 million BAM, which is 6.7 percent less compared to the same period last year, according to the analysis of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH.

A slight decline in exports of fruit crops, which are also dominant in this sector, was recorded in fresh pears by 4.4 percent, but at the same time a decline in imports of 10 percent was recorded.

The export of pears in the first half of the year amounted to around 6.5 million BAM, and almost all of them refer to the Russian Federation.

When it comes to exports of fresh apples, it dropped by 3.8 percent, so that in the first six months it amounted to around 7.6 million BAM, and almost all of it went to Russia, Montenegro and Serbia.

“In terms of value, the import of fresh apples in the first half of the year almost doubled and amounts to slightly more than 11 million BAM, which is a percentage increase of 67.3 percent,” the analysis states.

Imports in the first six months, among other things, are dominated by fresh bananas with 32.5 million BAM, oranges with 12.26 million BAM, which recorded an increase in imports by 31.8 percent, followed by lemons and limes with 10.5 million BAM of imports (growth of 55.9 percent), and mandarin with 3.6 million BAM (growth of 156 percent).
