Families with several Children will be affected by the Increase in Electricity Prices the most

Association “Porodice tri plus”, on the occasion of the announcement of the increase in the price of electricity for households and the determination of the tariff based on the number of consumed kWh, sent an urgent initiative for exemption from the increase in electricity prices for households whose owners are parents with three or more children.

”Namely, we believe that large families necessarily use electricity for their basic life needs, and as such, due to the large number of children, they cannot stay in the first – green tariff up to 280 kWh consumed, which is the only one that will remain without price increases – as informed by Elektroprivreda Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH),” stated in the statement.

Considering the increased needs and financial challenges and on the other hand the great social importance of these families, the Association hopes that parenting and raising a large number of children will be recognized and not financially punished by the authorities.

”As a unique organization that represents and protects the interests of families with three or more children in the Federation of BiH (FBiH), we are addressing this request in order to find the best solution. First of all, we would like to point out that families with three or more children represent the backbone of social development and the only long-term guarantee of the survival of our society in terms of demographics. Unfortunately, the multiplicity of financial and all other challenges of these families, unlike other countries in the region, have not been systematically recognized in FBiH until now. When it comes to the consumption of electricity, it is fully expected that households with a large number of children, in order to fulfill the basic needs of life in the elements where they need electricity, consume it more. We base the accuracy of this statement on the bills for households with multiple families, which average 400+ kWh consumed, without the use of household heating and air conditioning devices,” it is stated in the press release of the “Porodice tri plus” Association.

The initiative was sent to the Regulatory Commission for Energy in FBiH – FERK, public utility company Elektroprivreda BiH and the Government of the FBiH.
