FB&H Prime Minister: Everyone Has Right to Peaceful Assembly But Not to Destroy Property

Niksic-NerminAn emergency meeting was held last night in the government building of the FB&H last night in order to discuss the protests and civil rebellion in B&H. Nermin Nikšić, the Prime Minister of the FB&H, said that everyone has the right to peaceful assembly, but not to use violence, pose a security threat and destroy property. Prime Minister Nikšić said that they express regret over the fact that one police officer is seriously injured. ‘’We received information that one police officer is now able to communicate. We hope that he will recover and return to work, but we express regret for the injured citizens and public officials.

He said that he distinguishes between disenfranchised workers who are demanding a stable employment status, the accountability of those who destroyed their companies and led them closer to poverty, and health insurance, and then the hooligans who are ‘using the situation for larceny, anarchy and robbery’.

‘’We call on citizens to use the force of argument and the culture of dialogue, so that we could speak about all problems, because the destruction of property, fights, attacking police officers and destroying automobiles will not help in finding a solution. Everyone has the right to public assembly and a peaceful expression of discontent, and no one has the right to act violently, endanger people’s safety and to destroy property’’, said Prime Minister Nikšić at a press conference.

He said that the police are obliged to protect the standards of freedom, human lives, property of citizens and to provide security in accordance with the law.
