The first modern, covered bike parking for ten bikes was opened yesterday in Tuzla in the Maršala Tita Street number 2, a busy pedestrian zone. The parking is placed in an attractive part of the city, on a location which is under video surveillance, and in the vicinity of business offices, institutions and popular cafes. The bike parking is a valuable gift from the company Lactalis BH and the brand Dukat to Tuzla and the people of Tuzla. As of yesterday, all those who use bikes as a means of transportation around the city will have a safe place for disposal of their “two-wheeled pets”.

“Use of bikes in everyday traffic in the city is certainly a healthy life habit that brings many benefits to those who practice it. In this way we wanted to contribute to the development of cycling in Tuzla, which is certainly in accordance with socially responsible aspect of our business and our orientation to provide support for projects that are beneficial for local communities,” said Haris Kadenić, Head of Marketing in the company Lactalis BH.

First covered bike parking in Tuzla is characterized by a roof that ensures protection from unfavorable weather conditions, and the so-called A-stands, which are the best solution for disposal of bikes in public areas. “The parking was built after the model of positive engineering practices from other countries and, given the location, cyclists will be able to come to the city center on their bikes and have a safe place to dispose them, without thinking about whether someone will steal the bike. Of course, they should follow instructions from the safety label that is one of the innovative parts of the parking,” explained Damir Margeta, author of conceptual design and associate for infrastructure in the Association Giro di Sarajevo.

Construction of the parking in Tuzla was initiated by the Association Giro di Sarajevo and it was supported by the local partner, Bike Club Tuzla. “We are truly happy because of the opening of this facility, because unfortunately there was no serious and safe bike parking in Tuzla until now. The location is great and I hope that it will encourage more citizens to reduce traffic jams in the city center, contribute to the protection of environment, and do some recreation at the same time. On this occasion, I would like to thank the company Lactalis BH and Dukat for recognizing the importance of this project,” said Edin Mukinović, President of the Bike Club Tuzla.

With the aim of promoting cycling and natural beauties of Tuzla, members of the Association Giro di Sarajevo and Bike Club Tuzla yesterday cycled the section from Živinice to Modrac Lake, made a lap around the city, and attended the opening of the first covered bike parking in Tuzla.
