The airport in the Syrian capital Damascus resumed operations today after the fall of the Baath Party regime.
A Syrian Airlines passenger plane took off from Damascus International Airport for Aleppo, the first flight since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
The airport reopened to traffic after preparations were completed.
Assad, Syria’s leader for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia after anti-regime groups seized control of Damascus on December 8, ending the Baath Party regime that had ruled Syria since 1963.
