First Training of Police Officers on Protection of Rights of LGBT People in B&H

sarajevoopencenterAs part of the ‘Coming Out!’ project for the advocacy and protection of the rights of LGBT people, which is financed by the EU and implemented by Heinrich Boll Foundation in B&H, Sarajevo Open Center and Foundation Cure, the first training on hate crimes based on sexual orientation and gender identity for police officers in Sarajevo Canton will take place, announced the EU Delegation to B&H.

The training will take place from 23-24 September in Konjic.

The aim of the training is to sensitize police officers to the problems of the LGBT community and raise awareness of the needs of the full implementation of national and international legal obligations in B&H, and the necessity of adopting a non-selective approach in the protection of human rights for all people.

This training is the continuation of cooperation between Sarajevo Open Center and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Canton Sarajevo.

The organizers will open the training, as well as representatives of the Cabinet of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Canton Sarajevo.

The EU is financing the project ‘Coming Out!’ for the advocacy and protection of the rights of the LGBT community in the amount of 206,619.90 euros from the EIDRH 2012 funds.
