Five Journalists Killed in Israeli Airstrike on Gaza

Five journalists from Al-Quds Today were killed this morning when an Israeli airstrike hit their van near Al-Awda Hospital in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian officials said the journalists were covering the hospital when the vehicle, which was marked with the words “PRESS” in large red letters, was hit.

The journalists killed were Fadi Hasuna, Ibrahim al-Sheikh Ali, Mohammed al-Ladah, Faisal Abu al-Kumsan and Ayman al-Jadi.

Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif said al-Jadi was waiting for his wife, who was in labor with their first child, outside the hospital at the time of the attack.

Footage from the scene of the attack showed the van engulfed in flames as civil defense teams worked to recover bodies and put out the fire.

The Israeli military confirmed the attack, saying it targeted a vehicle carrying members of the Islamic Jihad.

“Many steps were taken before the attack to minimize the risk of civilian casualties, including the use of precision weapons, aerial surveillance and additional intelligence,” the Israeli military said.

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) condemned the killing of the journalist, calling for accountability.

Israel continues its war in the Gaza Strip, which has killed nearly 45,400 Palestinians, including 17,492 children and 11,979 women, and injured about 107,800 since October 7 last year. Israel is also facing charges of genocide before the International Court of Justice, AA writes.
