German Government provided specialized 3-dimensional printing equipment to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Tuzla. The equipment worth EUR 28 thousand represent the continued support to the development of the private sector and research and development facilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It will enable better training, facilitate the development of prototypes of new products and increase the competitiveness of domestic companies.

“This kind of equipment opens up new opportunities for trade development. It fosters additional investments in product development and helps to create job opportunities, which are urgently needed, especially for the younger generation”, emphasized Mrs Margret Uebber, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“This is an important contribution to equipping our research facility. Additive manufacturing (3D printing) is one of 9 pillars of the 4th industrial revolution and the application of such a system will help to facilitate BIH to catch up with modern global trends in industrial manufacturing,” noted Denijal Sprečić, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University in Tuzla. According to Dean Sprečić, the cooperation with the private sector will continue, while their research and development laboratory will remain available to students, staff members, businesses and everyone expressing a need or desire to include the research capacity of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering into the implementation of their activities.

The equipment was supplied by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH within the Programme for Local Self-Government and Economic Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina on behalf of the German Government.
