The national football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina is playing one of the most important matches in its history tonight from 21:00 in Seattle – the decisive match of the group stage at the World Cup against Qatar. With a triumph over Qatar, the Dragons would almost certainly win a historic place in the knockout phase of the World Cup as one of the eight best third-placed national teams.

At the start of the World Cup, our players drew 1:1 against one of the hosts Canada, while in the second round they were defeated by Switzerland with a score of 1:4. Dragons are currently in third place in group B with one point and a goal difference of 2:5.

A victory against Qatar would open up the possibility for the Dragons to win the knockout stage of the World Cup with four points, thus achieving the greatest success in the history of the national football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Sergej Barbarez’s team trained yesterday in Salt Lake City, where they finished preparations for one of the most important matches in the tournament. The atmosphere in the Dragons’ camp was at a high level, and the coaching staff used the last training for final tactical details before the duel with Qatar in Seattle.

“There are always small things, in such a long tournament it happens that some players miss a day or two, but nothing to worry about. Everyone except Tarik Muharemović will be in the squad,” said coach Sergej Barbarez at the press conference before the match.

“The fact that we are classified as the favorites does not change anything, so our approach to how we will play. Our goal is never to defend for 90 minutes. Of course, there are phases where the game calms down, the opponent lets go a little for various ideas. This is not a problem at all, but it also depends on the opponent and their way of playing. You saw today that everyone defends, rarely anyone plays long-term pressing. We do not need to introduce a new midfielder to be creative. We have enough creativity on the flanks and forward. We have to be in a good close block opponent, be aggressive and then creativity will come to the fore. We have our own idea, we want to win as well as our opponent, because victory leads them further. We will see whose desire is greater, and I hope it will be us,” stressed Barbarez.

The third and decisive match of our national team is played on the west coast of the United States of America, in the city of Seattle, where the “Lumen Field” stadium is located, which during the 2026 FIFA World Cup is called “Seattle Stadium”.

The match Bosnia and Herzegovina – Qatar will be played at 21:00 our time (12:00 American time).

The main referee is Jesús Valenzuela from Venezuela.
